Whale & Dolphin Watching in Kalpitiya
Set sail on a magical marine adventure as our cozy, sun-shaded dinghies depart daily from the shores of Kalpitiya, starting at 5:30 AM. This unforgettable whale and dolphin watching experience is your chance to witness nature’s giants up close—right where the vast ocean meets the rising sun.
While we’re happy to adjust departure times to suit your schedule, we recommend heading out early, as the sea often becomes choppier by midday. The calm morning waters offer the best chances for sightings—and the smoothest ride.
For your convenience, we provide complimentary Tuk Tuk pick-up and drop-off if you're staying nearby, making your journey to the shore easy and stress-free.
Kalpitiya is renowned for its vibrant marine life, especially its majestic sperm whales. But that’s not all—lucky guests have also encountered Omura whales, orcas, and the awe-inspiring blue whale. And when it comes to dolphins, sightings are almost guaranteed. Kalpitiya’s waters are home to six different species, including spinner, Risso’s, and bottlenose dolphins, making it one of the best dolphin-watching destinations in Sri Lanka.
Whether you’re joining us from Kandakuliya, Kudawa, Eluwankulama, Kalpitiya, or Gangewadiya, get ready for a truly enchanting journey across the ocean—and memories that will last a lifetime.
