Experience a full-day safari in Sri Lanka’s most famous wildlife destination, Yala National Park. Starting early morning from the Tangalle area, this journey takes you through the scenic southern countryside toward the Palatupana Gate (Block I), the park’s most popular entrance.
From Tangalle, the drive to Yala takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. Early morning temperatures can feel cool and windy, especially between Tissamaharama and the park entrance, so bringing a light cardigan is recommended until sunrise.
Yala National Park is renowned for having one of the world’s highest densities of leopards, while also being home to elephants, sloth bears, crocodiles, jackals, spotted deer, wild boar, and a remarkable variety of birdlife. The park’s landscapes range from scrub jungle and grasslands to lagoons and rocky outcrops, creating diverse habitats for wildlife.
A full-day safari allows visitors to explore deeper sections of the park with extended wildlife viewing opportunities and a relaxed lunch break during the day.
