You hike across the Kalani river to Makandawa Rainforest Reserve. In here many bird species, almost all endemic, can be spotted. The thick canopy overhead provides shade and cool air even on the hottest of days. The reserve also has several waterfalls, and it's possible to swim in the local swimming holes to cool off.
